BLS CPR Instructor

Course Description
Core Instructor Course is the official, self-directed, e-learning program from the American Heart Association® (AHA). The Core Instructor Course is an e-learning product that uses video and online scenarios to present realistic classroom situations. Successful completion of this module, paired with discipline specific course, monitoring and Training Center affiliation meets the requirements for the issuing of an AHA Instructor card.
 

Procedures to Complete BEFORE Course:

  • Find the Training Center in that you wish to belong to.
  • Print off the Instructor Candidate Application, complete the top portion and sign the Instructor Commitment section.
  • Have the Training Center of your choice fill out the TC Alignment section.
  • Have your most recent Healthcare Provider CPR Instructor fill out the Instructor Potential section (this signature must match the name that is on your current Healthcare Provider CPR card).

Those that desire to instruct American Heart Association CPR courses.

Student Materials: American Heart Association BLS Instructor Manual and Core Instructor Course Materials

Pre-Coursework: The AHA Core Instructor Course computer CD must be completed prior to attending class.The Certificate of completion must be printed and submitted to our office prior to the course date.

Written/Skills Evaluation: Required for completion card.

  1. Successful completion of the Instructor Course.
  2. Score of 84% or higher on the BLS Instructor Exam.
  3. A TSF or Instructor-Trainer must monitor the student teaching a Heartsaver course within 90 days. Satisfactory performance must be documented on the Instructor Monitoring Form

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS,ACLS, and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the Association.
